Case Study: Sony Vaio meets Ford Territory

We had an interesting case recently where a client reported their Sony Vaio laptop had accidentally been driven over by a Ford Territory. The laptop contained a 1.8″ Toshiba hard disk which after the impact was not operating.

Our engineers, always keen for a challenge, couldn’t wait to start the recovery process. Upon examination in our laboratory we discovered some of the internal parts had been compacted and fortunately the platters were intact. After fitting a new head stack and meticulously cleaning the platters the disk was rebuilt and completely recoverable.

“..After an unfortunate accident in which my laptop was run over by a 4WD, and totally destroyed, like most people my first thought was for the 3 years of data I had acquired. I travel worldwide for my business and my laptop is the only practical place to store my data, the files contained therein are vital to me and my business. So after a lengthy search and many phone calls I found Lester at Toba Data Recovery. Lester certainly made me feel better about the prospect of getting my data back, and was at all times honest and forthright about the status of the recovery. I found Toba’s costs to be far and away better than others I spoke to, and the turnaround time of less than 5 working days was amazing. In the end, all of my data was recovered, and I cant thank Lester enough for his efforts and his personal service. The recovery of data for me was a major worry and of high importance, and lester certainly made me feel better about the situation.

I will certainly use Toba again when my next laptop gets run over!!..”
