| External Disks have grown in popularity over the last few
years. They contain one or more hard disks and offer connectivity as USB, Firewire and/or RJ45. Where there are more than one hard
disks inside the enclosure, these may be arranged in a RAID or JBOD configuration.
External disks are vulnerable to the
same faults as desktop hard disks. Since External Disks are portable they are at a higher risk of knocks which can potentially cause read/write head crashes.
