JBOD is not a RAID configuration but refers to a logical configuration spanning across two or more drives. If the event of failure in one drive the entire logical drive will fail. Therefore JBOD has none of the redundancy provided by a RAID configuration. The likelihood of failure in a JBOD configuration is the sum the likelihood of failure of each drive.
To recover data from a JBOD configuration we require all the drives.
